Other Ways To Aid In Keeping Healthy Eyesight:

Quit Smoking

Smoking can cause cataracts, macular degeneration, and optic nerve damage.

Wear Eye Protection

Sunglasses are not just a fashion statement, the right pair can actually protect your eyes from damaging UV rays. When it comes to using hazardous or airborne materials, make sure you wear the proper eye protection.

Take Your Eyes Off Your Computer Screen

Make sure that you have the proper up to date prescription glasses or contacts to help protect your eyes while looking at a computer screen. If you do not need glasses but get eye strain from staring at a screen, ask for computer glasses to use while you work. Make sure your computer has an anti-glare screen. Blink more often when staring at a screen to prevent your eyes from drying out. Rest your eyes every 20 minutes, look 20 ft. away for 20 seconds. Make sure you stand and take a 15 minute break every 2 hours.

Follow these tips and you will increase your chances of maintaining healthy eyes as you age.
